COMMUNITY SERVICE

If you would like to volunteer your sewing time to worthy cause, check out the organizations and their websites listed below.

ANTI OUCH POUCH

The community service project for the 2008 ASG Conference in Chicago will be the  "Anti-Ouch Pouch" used after breast surgery or during radiation treatment. Developed by Deon Maas and is dedicated to her mother, Doris Lock, who taught her to sew. Click to get the pattern.

PROJECT LINUS

It's easy to help Project Linus. Simply make a blanket and donate it to your local chapter of Project Linus or Project Linus National Headquarters. Your blanket will be given to a child in need.

Our volunteers, known as "blanketeers", provide new, handmade, washable blankets to be given as gifts to seriously ill and traumatized children, ages 0-18. It is Project Linus' policy to accept blankets of all sizes, depending on the needs of the local chapters. All styles of blankets are welcome, including quilts, tied comforters, fleece blankets, crocheted or knitted afghans, and receiving blankets in child-friendly colors.  For more information on Project Linus go to http://www.projectlinus.org/index.shtml .
